Iran Warns U.S. ‘Crossed Every Red Line’ with Nuclear Strikes

(MENAFN) At a press briefing in Istanbul on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that the United States has “crossed every red line” with its recent attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, cautioning that diplomatic solutions might no longer be viable.

Araghchi characterized the US assaults as “outrageous, grave, and unprecedented violation of fundamental principles of the Charter of the UN and international law.”

He added, “Iran condemns in the strongest terms the US brutal military aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities.”

Highlighting Iran’s commitment to defend its sovereignty, Araghchi emphasized resistance not only against “US military aggression” but also against “Israel's unlawful actions.”

The Iranian diplomat insisted that calls for resuming talks are “irrelevant,” pointing out that negotiations were already underway when the US launched its strikes.

“We were in the middle of talks with the US when Israelis blow it up. And again, we were in the middle of talks, and negotiations with Europeans happened only two days ago in Geneva. This time, Americans decided to blow it up,” he explained.

Araghchi further stated, “It's very unfortunate that Israel is doing -- as the German chancellor called -- a dirty job. ... They supported that dirty job, it's a shame.”

Regarding the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Araghchi questioned its effectiveness for Iran despite full compliance, asking, “Why countries pursuing peaceful nuclear energy should rely on the treaty?”

He announced plans to travel to Moscow Sunday afternoon to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday to address the fallout from the US attacks.

When questioned about potential Iranian retaliatory actions, including strikes on US bases or closing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi responded, “There are variety of options available to us, and that's it.”

Tensions escalated sharply after US President Donald Trump revealed that American forces conducted “very successful” airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday, raising fears of an intensified regional conflict.

In response to the US actions, Iran urged the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session aimed at condemning the US military aggression and holding violators of international law accountable.

The conflict intensified after June 13, when Israel executed airstrikes targeting multiple Iranian military and nuclear locations. Tehran retaliated with missile attacks against Israel.

Israeli officials reported that at least 25 people have died and hundreds more were injured due to Iranian missile strikes.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Health Ministry reported that 430 individuals have lost their lives and over 3,500 have been wounded as a result of the Israeli bombardment.
