ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Firstline Garage Door Repair, based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, has added artificial intelligence-assisted Photo Diagnosis to its free Garage Door Diagnostic Tool. The update allows homeowners to upload up to three photos from a phone and receive a preliminary assessment of visible garage door problems before scheduling service.

The new feature addresses questions homeowners often face when a garage door stops working: what may have broken, what the repair could cost, and whether the next step is a basic check or a visit from a qualified technician.

To use Photo Diagnosis, homeowners open the tool, select the photo option, upload clear images of the door and affected components, and click “Analyze My Garage Door.” They can also describe what happened. Images are submitted through Firstline’s server for AI-assisted analysis, with results displayed directly in the browser.

The report explains what is visible in the photos, what those findings may mean, and the recommended next steps. When a likely problem can be identified, it also provides an estimated repair price range. If the images do not show enough detail, the tool explains what remains unclear.

“After more than 14 years working on garage doors, I have seen how difficult it can be for homeowners to evaluate a repair they do not understand,” said Alex Caraus, owner and technician at Firstline Garage Door Repair. “I built this tool to help people understand the problem, ask better questions and make a more informed repair decision.”

The existing Quick Diagnosis option remains available alongside Photo Diagnosis. It guides users through questions about symptoms such as a door that will not open, uneven movement, loose cables, grinding noises, or an opener that runs without moving the door.

Together, the two options are designed to help homeowners prepare for a service visit, discuss possible repairs and compare estimates with a clearer understanding of the issue.

Although developed by a local Illinois repair company, the online resource is intended for a wider audience across the United States, Canada and other markets with comparable garage door systems. The current interface is in English, and displayed price ranges are U.S. estimates rather than local quotes for every market.

Photo diagnosis is preliminary. Image quality, hidden damage and differences between door systems can affect the assessment. Final diagnosis and pricing may require an on-site inspection.
